Meta Launches AI Image Generator Across WhatsApp, Instagram, Facebook

Meta has launched Muse Image, its first artificial intelligence-powered image generation model from Meta Superintelligence Labs, expanding its suite of generative AI tools across WhatsApp, Instagram and Facebook.
The new model enables users to generate, edit and share high-quality images using simple conversational prompts, allowing them to create visuals directly within Meta’s platforms.
Announcing the rollout, Meta described Muse Image as a creative companion to its existing Muse Spark assistant, designed to help users transform ideas into downloadable images using natural language prompts.
According to the company, users can create new images from scratch or edit existing photos by simply describing the changes they want. The model can perform tasks such as placing a pet in a famous painting, removing unwanted objects or people from images, generating functional QR codes and creating infographics with clearly rendered text.
Meta said Muse Image also supports shopping integration by allowing users to upload photos of rooms and generate redesigned spaces using real products sourced from the web or Facebook Marketplace. Users can either specify a preferred design style or allow the AI to suggest options based on current trends.
The rollout also introduces more than 30 AI-powered effects for Instagram Stories and brings AI image generation directly into WhatsApp chats through Meta AI. The feature is currently available in selected countries, with a broader rollout planned in the coming weeks.
Meta added that users can edit AI-generated images by tapping a markup tool to circle, sketch or annotate desired changes. The model retains the context of previous prompts, allowing users to refine images, adjust styles or add new elements without restarting the process.
The company disclosed that Muse Video, an AI-powered video generation model, is already under development as the next phase of its creative AI strategy.
The launch builds on Meta’s broader push to integrate artificial intelligence across its platforms. Earlier, the company introduced AI-powered features on Facebook, including AI Mode, a search experience that delivers context-rich responses based on publicly shared content from Facebook Groups, Reels and other parts of the platform.
With the introduction of Muse Image, Meta is strengthening its generative AI capabilities as competition intensifies among technology companies seeking to deliver more advanced AI-powered creative tools for consumers and businesses.
