Brand Communicator’s Joshua Ajayi Makes Nigeria’s Top 50 PR Power List For Fourth Consecutive Year

For the fourth consecutive year, Joshua Ajayi, Chief Executive Officer of Awesome Communications and Publisher of Nigeria’s leading multi-award-winning brands, marketing and sustainability publication, Brand Communicator, has been named among Nigeria’s Top 50 PR Power List for 2026.
The Top 50 PR Power List forms part of activities marking the 2026 World PR Day and is organised by one of Nigeria’s foremost public relations firms, GLG Communications, in partnership with The Guardian Newspaper.
Now in its fifth edition, the PR Power List has become Nigeria’s definitive annual recognition of excellence in public relations and strategic communications. Published exclusively by The Guardian, the list celebrates outstanding PR and communications professionals within Nigeria and across the diaspora whose work has demonstrated strategic thinking, innovation and measurable impact over the past year.
The 2026 honourees were selected across four categories—Rising Voices, Changemakers, Community Impact and Fourth Estate—following a rigorous evaluation process involving extensive research, independent assessments and jury deliberations by respected communications leaders from Nigeria and around the world.
Speaking on the milestone fifth edition, Omawumi Ogbe, Managing Partner of GLG Communications and Creator of the PR Power List, said the initiative was established to celebrate communications professionals whose contributions often take place behind the scenes but whose influence resonates across business, government and society.
“Five years ago, we set out to create a credible platform that recognises excellence in public relations and strategic communications. Today, the PR Power List is more than an annual list; it is a record of the people shaping our profession and raising the standard of strategic communications in Nigeria. We are proud to celebrate this year’s honourees and grateful to everyone who has contributed to building the PR Power List into what it has become,” Ogbe said.
She also acknowledged The Guardian, which has partnered with the initiative since its inception, as well as the Public Relations and Communications Association (PRCA), the International Communications Consultancy Organisation (ICCO), THOP, the Alliance Française, and the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR) for supporting the milestone fifth edition.
Ajayi’s latest recognition further underscores his enduring contributions to public relations, journalism and strategic communications. In 2021, he was honoured with the prestigious PR Journalist of the Year Award by LaPRIGA, one of Nigeria’s foremost platforms for recognising excellence in public relations practice. In the same year, he also received the Most Consistent Niche Media Personality Award at the Freelanews Awards.
Beyond his achievements as a journalist and publisher, Ajayi is widely recognised as the convener of some of West Africa’s most influential marketing communications platforms. These include the Women in Marketing Communications Conference and Awards (WIMCA), the region’s largest gathering of female marketing communications professionals; BRANDCOMFEST, the flagship conference for stakeholders in the integrated marketing communications industry; BRANDCOM Awards, which celebrates excellence across the marketing communications value chain; and the Environmental Sustainability Conference, Expo and Awards (ECOSEA), a leading platform promoting sustainability advocacy and responsible business practices.
Under Ajayi’s leadership, Brand Communicator has continued to set the benchmark for excellence in specialised journalism. The publication won the Best Company in CSR Reporting Award at the Sustainability, Enterprise and Responsibility Awards (SERAS) for its outstanding sustainability coverage. It was also nominated for Best Small and Medium Company of the Year at the 10th SERAS Awards and emerged second runner-up in the Best Company in Sustainability Reporting category in 2018.
The publication has equally earned widespread acclaim for its exceptional reportage of the integrated marketing communications industry, winning the LaPRIGA PR Magazine of the Year (Print) Award presented by the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR), Lagos State Chapter, for about six consecutive years between 2017 and 2025. In addition, Brand Communicator has forged strategic partnerships with globally renowned creative platforms, including the Loeries in South Africa and the Cristal Awards in Morocco, further strengthening its reputation as a leading voice in Africa’s marketing communications ecosystem.
