Mall For Africa Enters 11 New Markets To Deepen Presence In Africa

Beyond its presence in Nigeria, Kenya, Ghana and Rwanda; Mall for Africa, leading online shopping platform, has expanded its operation to 11 new African markets.
The 11 new markets include Angola, Chad, Guinea, Botswana, Tanzania, Uganda, Malawi, Egypt, Democratic Republic of Congo, Senegal and Sierra Leone. The Mall for Africa App will now be available to the customers in those countries.
Chris Folayan, CEO of Mall for Africa said: “Current customers in Nigeria, Kenya, Ghana, and Rwanda love our platform which is why we are rolling out in 11 additional countries and will continue to expand our platform to meet the needs of customers worldwide.”
The app offers billions of items from more than 250 top US and UK retailer stores that would otherwise be inaccessible to many African customers and manages every aspect of the order and return cycle.
Africa boasts over 1 billion potential customers, coupled with a growing middle class who patronize e-Commerce companies. According to eshopworld, e-Commerce will be worth $75 billion in Africa’s leading economies by 2025.
Similarly, Statista, online statistics, market research portal, stated that the global retail e-commerce sales will reach $4.5 trillion by 2021, a 246.15% increase worldwide from 2014. This is a result of shopper’s looking beyond borders when shopping online and 57% made a purchase from an overseas retailer within the past six months.
The online store sells over 8.5 billion items across 20,000 categories from more than 150 stores. The ‘global mall’ acts as a middleman between US and UK retailers and consumers in Africa’s emerging markets, providing top international brands with access to an often hard-to-reach consumer base.
