In his words, he said, “COVID-19 pandemic has been an acid test of your competence and capacity in news reporting in times of crisis. Since the first reported case of the pandemic in Nigeria, you have braved the odds and reported consistently from the theatre of war against an unseen enemy.

“You have lived up to the billing and reported news as it breaks helping to stem the tide of fake news and fear mongering! Whether at press briefings by government officials or reporting developments and happenings in communities across the length and breadth of the country, you have dared the odds to keep the people well informed. You have put yourself in harm’s way for the good of the people.

He added, “There has been accolades and appreciation from various segments of the society to people who are playing significant roles in the fight against the containment of the deadly virus, but none yet to appreciate the members of the Fourth Estate of the Realm.
