AAAN Appoints Kemi Fabusoro As First Female Director

The Association of Advertising Agencies of Nigeria (AAAN) in an unprecedented move has appointed Mrs Kemi Fabusoro as its first ever female Director following the exit of Dr. ‘Lekan Fadolapo who was recently appointed as the Registrar/CEO of APCON.
Fabusoro’s appointment by the leading sectoral group in the advertising industry comes after more than six months’ vacuum in that position. According to the association, the lacuna was necessary in order to find the best fit professional for the AAAN Secretariat.
The announcement of the new Director who resumed duties as the head of the AAAN secretariat on Monday, March 8, 2021, has been hailed as a ‘positive coincidence’ by industry observers who noted that the commemoration of the International Women’s Day viz-a-vis Fabusoro’s appointment portend greater good for gender parity in advertising industry.
In corroboration, President of the Association, Mr. Steve Babaeko, explained that the appointment of Mrs. Kemi Fabusoro is a milestone for the association as she is the first female director since the inception of the Association. He further noted that her appointment is transformational for the Association as it puts into perspective the Association’s effort in advancing gender balance in leadership of AAAN.
Fabusoro is a goal-oriented senior management executive with over 17 years’ professional experience with measurable track record in brand management, marketing and media strategy, digital excellence, team capability building. She commenced her career at Hunters Advertising Limited in 2004 where she was responsible for the launch and market penetration of a lot of electronics brands such as Akira, Sharp & Novartis etc. Afterwards, she joined Insight Communications as a senior executive and she rose to the post of a full manager, before she joined MediaReach as the head of Media Strategy and Planning working on various FMCG clients.
Kemi has also worked with Cadbury Nigeria in different capacities from heading marketing communications, media and agency relations to brand management across West Africa. She was responsible for driving the brands to success which earned her a number of awards and recognition within Nigeria and EMEA.
She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Mass Communication from the University of Lagos and a Post Graduate Diploma in Digital Marketing from the Digital Marketing Institute, UK. She has an Executive Education in Marketing Strategy at Harvard Business School; USA and she is a Certified CIM Marketer and a registered APCON member.
