SO&U, Globacom Part Ways After 8 Years

Information reaching Brand Communicator has it that one of the longest agency-client relationships in this market has come to an end. The partnership between one of Nigeria’s foremost second-generation agencies, SO&U and one of Nigeria’s telecommunication giants, Globacom, came to an end recently after about eight years. Within this period, the two companies churned out award-winning creative works locally, continentally and globally.
Though information on why the relationship between the two parties came to an end is still sketchy, sources close to both parties suggest that it was a mutual affair.
Taking to its social media page to make the announcement yesterday, SO&U through its @sounigeria Instagram handle wrote: “What a ride! Thank you Globacom. Thank you for an unprecedented 8 years of partnership.
“It was fun while it lasted and we did some outstanding work together. But nothing lasts forever. We wish you the very best,” it prayed.
So far, SO&U is the agency with the longest standing relationship with the company and has received recognitions for working on the brand. One of such recognition is its declaration as winner of an Emerald award in the Main – Continental – Awards category for Glo’s ‘Grandpa Goes to London’ campaign at the African Cristal creative festival held in Morocco some years ago.
The campaign was one amid a cluster of advertising materials produced by the agency for Glo, and it demonstrated the agency’s ability to tell compelling and moving stories in a way that resonate with consumers across the different market demography in the telecoms market.
