Toni Kan Assumes New Position As Head, Public Relations For Glo

Multiple award-winning PR practitioner, writer and journalist, Anthony Kanayo Onwordi popularly known by his pen name, Toni Kan, has pitched tent with telecommunication giant, Glo, as Head, Public Relations.
In his new position Toni Kan is expected to lead Glo PR department and take on full responsibility for the strategy, collaboration, execution and measurement of PR & Media Relations campaigns, with the goal of building and enhancing a favorable image for the telco brand with employees, potential candidates, clients, potential customers, influencers and the public, among other functions.
Information gathered has it that his appointment took effect yesterday, Tuesday, February 1, 2022, as he resumed duties at the Lagos headquarters of the company.
Toni has over 20 years of experience and proven knowledge of corporate public and external relations, government relations and communications, business strategy, advocacy & development, crisis management & thought leadership.
His multi-disciplinary experience spans banking and finance, media and publishing, development & telecoms, consulting & pharmaceuticals, oil & gas.
Among his many achievements, Toni launched the Visafone Brand and won Telecom Brand of the Year in 6 months, handled PR for the dual listing of Seplat Petroleum on the NSE and LSE, managed PR accounts for Seplat Petroleum, GE Nigeria, Emzor Pharmaceutical, Resource Intermediaries, Aart of Life Foundation, Shell/LIMGE project, plus content provision for dstv.com Nigeria and Ghana, among others.
A sought-after training facilitator, panelist, rapporteur and faculty member, Toni was a Tedx Speaker, an invited speaker at the Financial Times Africa Summit 2018, among others.
He co-founded Sabinews, arguably the first Nigerian news website to be sold and has authored over 20 books as a ghostwriter, short story writer, essayist, movie, music, book reviewer. These books include the story collection ‘Nights of the Creaking Bed,’ edited The Sunday Sun Revue, a literary supplement. He also co-edited ‘Who’s Who in Yoruba Pantheon.’
A Best Graduating Student in English Language from the University of Jos, Plateau State, Toni is also a Master’s degree holder in English Literature from the University of Lagos. He became a magazine editor at 26 and left journalism to pursue a career in communications and public relations.
Toni Kan has received many accolades, including the Ken Saro Wiwa NNDC Prize and a writing fellowship from the Heinrich Böll Foundation.
