Stanbic IBTC Strengthens Youth Empowerment goal, Sponsors Social Media Week

To restate the brand’s commitment to youth empowerment, Stanbic IBTC Holdings Plc has concluded plans to sponsor Africa NXT, formerly known as Social Media Week.
In the last few years, experts and young people in the business, creative, and tech spaces across Africa and the diaspora had convened to hold discussions each year on various topics related to youth development at the annual event that usually holds for seven days.
This year, the event is slated to take place from February 27, 2022, to March 4, 2022. The theme for the 2022 edition is ‘The Next 10 Years: Reimagining Our Collective Commitment to Africa’s Prosperity, with a particular focus on collaboration to achieve progress in tech and business for Africa’s prosperity.”
Speaking about the event, chief executive, Stanbic IBTC Bank, Wole Adeniyi, said the event would serve as an opportunity to connect with the youth.
According to him, Stanbic IBTC is passionate about youth development and innovation. Africa NXT is a platform that connects us all, allows us to converse, and let them know that Stanbic IBTC is always ready to help push their dreams.
Adeniyi also said, the robot, Pepper, will be on ground for people to have a first-hand experience of it and have a glimpse of how technology powers Stanbic IBTC’s operations, saying that “Technology simplifies complex processes. Pepper is a robot, but it is well equipped to carry out basic transactions, demonstration of Stanbic IBTC’s relentless search for ways to serve our clients and customers through technology.”
In another development, Stanbic IBTC has equally restated its commitment to providing Nigerians with financial solutions powered by innovative technology.
The chairman of Stanbic IBTC Plc, Basil Omiyi, made this commitment while urging organisations to migrate to cleaner energy sources for their operations because of the capacity to reduce the impact of emissions on the environment.
Acknowledging that the economy and society are wholly owned subsidiaries of the environment, he stated that, the use of green energy will help keep the environment stable to support economic and social activities.
He noted that, for development in Nigeria to be sustainable, there must be a balance that guarantees that the environment and society are not negatively affected by economic activities now and in the future.
The Stanbic IBTC chairman also revealed that his organisation was committed to creating a greener environment across its operational locations.
He said: “at Stanbic IBTC, building environmental resilience is one of our four sustainability pillars. This pillar demonstrates our focus on environmental footprint management.”
