Social Media Company, Twitter, has announced the launch of a new feature called ‘Twitter Circle” that allows users to control the number of people that can access their tweets.
This was revealed on Tuesday in a post made by Twitter noting that the feature will allow users to select up to 150 people who they can share their tweets with exclusively.
“When you have a big Tweet that’s meant for a smaller crowd, send it to your Twitter Circle which is now available for everyone,” the microblogging platform wrote.
General Manager, Consumer and Revenue Product, Twitter, Jay Sullivan said “We want to help people break the ice, feel more comfortable Tweeting, and have a way to communicate more privately with people they choose. We built Twitter Circle with this in mind, and after testing and feedback, we’re releasing Twitter Circle to everyone. We will continue to build a healthier, more enjoyable Twitter so that everyone can join the public conversation on their terms,”
According to the company, Twitter Circles are created in users’ settings. Users thereafter send tweets to their circle by following the prompt that pops up when drafting a new tweet.
Tweets sent to a circle are denoted with a marker at the bottom and appear on the general timeline of the circle follower. Only fellow circle followers will be able to reply and see new replies.
People in the circle will see a green badge under Tweets sent to the group. These Tweets cannot be retweeted.
Twitter began testing Twitter Circle in May 2022 with a limited number of people on iOS, Android, and the web. Now, after a successful test run, the feature is being rolled out to everyone globally.
In addition to the launch of Twitter Circle, here are some of the other features that let users take charge of your Twitter experience. One can change who can reply to your Tweet midway through a conversation.
However, last year, Twitter expanded its Conversation Settings to allow people to “Change who can reply” to a Tweet midway through a conversation.
Another recently introduced feature that was not mentioned is a tool that helps users leave conversations they do not want to be a part of. Twitter is also testing a way to make it easier to remove followers without blocking them.
