Nigeria’s Animation Pitch Ceremony: Excitement, Glamour As KIBI QUAZI Is Selected As The Opening Film For Annecy Festival

It was indeed a significant milestone for Nigeria’s animation industry as KIBI QUAZI was officially selected as the opening film for the prestigious Annecy Festival at the official Animation pitch ceremony held on MAY 16, 2024.
KIBI Quazi, the first Indigenous animated content produced by Micromedia Animated Studio was selected at the pitch ceremony facilitated by Animation Nigeria in collaboration with the French Embassy in Nigeria.
The ceremony which was also supported by the French Consulate, took place at the Alliance Française, Lagos.
According to Shileola Ibironke, the MD/CEO of Micromedia Group and Executive Producer of “KIBI QUAZI”, the French Embassy will also sponsor the animated film at the Annecy International Animation Film Festival taking place in June 2024.
The French Embassy in Nigeria in partnership with Annecy International Animation Film Festival and MIFA (Marché International du Film d’Animation), is spearheading a comprehensive development programme aimed at fostering growth and innovation within the animation sector. This program includes workshops, mentorship opportunities, and networking events to empower animators and filmmakers to realize their creative visions.
Animation Nigeria, a leading organization comprising Nigerian animation studios committed to nurturing emerging talent, is dedicated to the development, establishment, and enrichment of the Nigerian animation landscape. Through various initiatives, Animation Nigeria aims to provide a platform for aspiring animators to showcase their creativity while contributing to the growth of the industry.
