The Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR), the regulatory body for the public relations practice in Nigeria, has announced a call for proposals to revitalize its brand identity ahead of its 60th anniversary celebrations next year.

In a document titled “Revitalizing the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations Brand,” the institute cited the rapidly evolving landscape of communication and shifting societal expectations as key drivers for the need to rebrand. The rise of digital media, social networks, and instant messaging has radically transformed how information is disseminated and consumed.

“To thrive in this dynamic environment, NIPR must adapt its branding to resonate with contemporary audiences who are increasingly digital-savvy and discerning in their consumption of information,” the document stated.

A modernized brand is seen as essential for enhancing NIPR’s reputation locally and internationally, while building credibility and trust among stakeholders including PR practitioners, employers, and the general public. The revitalized identity should position NIPR as a forward-thinking institution equipped to navigate emerging industry trends and challenges.

“A new brand identity can symbolize NIPR’s commitment to innovation, inclusivity, and ethical practice, thereby attracting new professionals, fostering strategic partnerships, and ensuring its relevance in the years to come,” the document added.

The deliverables outlined in the call include a refreshed logo with updated typeface and intergenerational appeal, brand collaterals such as a new flag, seal, and website, as well as defined brand colors of red, green, blue, yellow, and purple. A new motto centered on “Leadership, Excellence and Professionalism” is also specified.

Both NIPR members and non-members are invited to submit proposals by June 5, 2024. The winner will receive a cash prize of 1 million naira and an invitation to the institute’s 60th anniversary gala dinner at Transcorp Hilton Hotel in Abuja on June 27, 2024.

Professor E.S. Dandaura, Chair of the NIPR Diamond Anniversary Committee, emphasized the importance of this brand revitalization: “NIPR has long been regarded as a leader in the African public relations industry. By revitalizing its brand, NIPR can enhance its reputation, demonstrate forward-thinking leadership, and remain relevant in an ever-changing industry.”
