Standard Chartered Appoints Joke Adu As Country Head Of Corporate Affairs, Brand & Marketing, Nigeria
Standard Chartered Bank Nigeria Limited has announced the appointment of marketing communications professional, Joke Adu as its Head of Corporate Affairs, Brand and Marketing in its Nigeria franchise.
As country lead, she will be responsible for driving the strategic implementation and local ideation of the Bank’s corporate affairs strategy whilst amplifying and protecting the brand in Nigeria. These include providing oversight of corporate communications, media relations, reputation and risk management, community impact sustainability, public affairs, business portfolio marketing, investor relations and brand management.
With 17 years’ experience, Joke has expertise in Corporate Communications (Internal, External, Crisis and Business); Reputational Risk Management, Public Affairs; Sustainability and Community Investments, Events, Public Speaking, Speech writing, Brand Management and Marketing.
Joke joined Standard Chartered in 2007 and has held various senior roles within the Bank in Nigeria spanning Customer Service/Client Experience, General Management, Project Management, Sustainability, Governance, Marketing Communications and Brand Management. She has also worked in various capacities across the region including country leadership responsibilities in Cote D’Ivoire, Mauritius and The Gambia, respectively. Most recently, she was a regional lead for Communications and Sustainability Community Impact in the Africa and Middle East Centre of Excellence.
She is an alumnus of the prestigious Standard Chartered Africa and Middle East (AME) Emerging Leaders Program and is a Certified Neuroleadership Coach supporting Standard Chartered Group’s IGNITE program for employees’ professional well-being globally.
Joke takes over from Dayo Aderugbo, who served as Head of the department from 2014 until she departed from the Bank this year.
Joke holds a Master’s degree in Media and Communications along with various qualifications from the Chartered Institute of Marketing (UK), the Digital Marketing Institute (Ireland), the Nigeria Institute of Marketing (NIM) and the Nigeria Institute of Public Relations (NIPR) and is affiliated with the Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria (CIBN).
