Airtel Nigeria Engages Big Brother Naija Housemates In Intriguing Brand Task

As the Big Brother Naija (BBN) “No Loose Guard” edition enters its second week, Airtel Nigeria engaged the housemates in its highly anticipated brand tasks over the weekend in brain-stimulating games bringing excitement to millions of viewers across Africa and beyond.

The reality show, now in full swing has been building anticipation for the brand activations that have become a hallmark of the BBN experience. While television commercials and strategic product placements and activations have been in play since the season’s launch, the Airtel brand task was the second direct brand task within the house.

Airtel Nigeria seized the opportunity to display its products and services range through three intensive games Get Data, Airtel Golf & Sword Challenge and Flip & Fix Airtel played by the housemates. Aside from putting housemates’ agility, and intellectual capacity to the test, observers believe the challenge served as a masterclass in product integration and brand visibility.

With the games, Airtel Nigeria displayed its product the signature Airtel Routers, to the strength and the reach of its network.

For the three games, housemates were strategically divided into four teams, each comprising three pairs. Team Speed, Team Mifi, Team Smart Routers and Team Data further display its offerings.

The first game was similar to the game of snake and ladder,  each team had two representatives. One member was responsible for tossing a die while the second moved the routers to as the die was tossed to 20 steps on the mat.

There were two game mats with rows of numbers, these allowed two teams to play simultaneously, The game was played in two batches, the first for two first teams, and the second for the remaining two teams.
The game masters decided the teams played in the first and second batches, the sound of the buzzer signified the start of each game. The team that completed the round at the earliest time won.

The second game, the Airtel Golf And Sword Challenge, the game featured two activities and each team also chose a representative to play the games, For the first activity, each representative had to put the golf ball into the hole and proceeded into a mini station, where he separates mixed red and white balls from a box into their respective tubes.

The game masters decided which teams played, at the end of the game, Big Brother revealed each time for each team, and the team that completed the two activities at the quickest possible time won and got 10 points.

The third and final game, Flip and Fix Airtel, similar to the first two games, was in two parts, the first activity included flipping a bottle and solving a jigsaw puzzle, two representatives were also chosen for the game, one to flip the bottle while the second person solved the puzzle. As with the previous games, two teams will play simultaneously, the representatives fixed the puzzle by looking at the referencing image at the end of the other side as Doubleday served as the taskmasters.

At the end of the three games, team Mifi was crowned the winner of the brand task by Big Brother.

The Airtel Nigeria brand task promises to be a season filled with creative brand engagements. As Africa’s most-watched TV show unfolds, the fusion of drama, competition, and marketing ingenuity is expected to reach new heights. As usual, Brand Communicator will keep you posted.
