BBNaija S9: Arla Nigeria Promotes Culinary Excellence In Lurpak Brand Task
The Big Brother Naija show is on a roller coaster as the reality TV show is nearing the end of the second week. To ‘sweeten things even more’, Arla Nigeria, one of the sponsors of the ‘No Loose Guard’ edition held its task where they promoted culinary excellence in what it entitled, ‘Good Food Deserves Lurpak’ task.
Through the cooking challenge, the company strategically used the spotlight in week three of the reality TV show to create more visibility for one of its products, Lurpark.
The brand task involved not just cooking, but a celebration of good food through unique styles using a star ingredient, Lurpak. The task afforded millions of ardent viewers of the show the opportunity to see how their beloved brand is being put into other uses piquing the interest of viewers and potentially creating a new market trend. It also afforded handlers of the brand the opportunity to display several creamy qualities of the brand and its offerings. The housemates prepared Nigerian local dishes such as Lurpak concoction rice, and our popular jollof rice among others.
The task was divided into two parts, a cooking challenge and a cooking show which tested the housemates’ culinary skills, creativity and showmanship.
For the cooking challenge, housemates were divided into four teams, each comprising three pairs. Team Lurpak Delight- Double Kay, Aces and Shatoria, team Lurpak Tasty- Zinwe, Nelita and WanniXHandi, team Lurpak Indulge- Streeze, Florish and Radicals and team Lurpak premium- Chekas, Beta and Nbadiwe Twins.
Each team was assigned a specific dish to make, that required the use of Lurpak butter. The housemates were challenged to demonstrate not only their cooking prowess but also their ability to effectively incorporate and showcase the brand’s offerings. The task’s structure ensured that Lurpak was the star ingredient, effectively turning the Big Brother kitchen into a live cooking show and brand promotion arena rolled into one.
For the cooking show, housemates were given 45 minutes to create a seven-minute television show around good food championed by Lurpak Butter. They came up with a creative concept to showcase how Lurpak Butter has elevated their meals and an anthem as a signature tune as they presented their dishes.
The cooking show was judged based on creativity, brand infusion, higher concept, presentation, audience engagement, team involvement, taste and aesthetics.
At the end of the task, Team Lurpak Delight (Aces, Shatoria and DoubleKay) emerged as the ultimate cooking champs with 45.7% points.
Team Tasty (Zinwe, Nelita and WanniXHandi) followed with 26.6% points while team Premium (Chekas, Beta and Nbaniwe Twins) with 23.4% points.
