As part of the anniversary celebrations, Access Bank Ghana plans to launch various social impact initiatives, reinforcing its commitment to giving back to society and driving sustainable growth.
With a focus on financial education, innovation, and customer service excellence, Access Bank Ghana has become a trusted partner, helping individuals and businesses achieve their financial goals while fostering a prosperous community.
Reflecting on the bank’s journey over the years, Ama S. Bawuah, Board Chair of Access Bank Ghana, said “Over the past 15 years, we have grown from a modest organization to a leading financial institution in Ghana, proudly serving hundreds of thousands of customers and businesses across the country. Your trust and partnership have been instrumental in our growth and achievements.”
Expressing his gratitude to customers, the Managing Director of Access Bank Ghana, Olumide Olatunji said, “These accomplishments would not have been possible without your support. According to the bank, over the next 12 months, it will highlight its significant contributions to the evolution of the Ghanaian banking sector.
Since its inception in August 2009, Access Bank Ghana has not only become a leading financial institution but has also achieved several ground-breaking milestones.
Access Bank Ghana made history by becoming the first Nigerian heritage bank listed on the Ghana Stock Exchange, demonstrating its strong performance and commitment to corporate governance. It also pioneered women-focused banking services, offering tailored financial solutions to support female entrepreneurs and professionals.
The bank was the first to introduce GH Link Cards, providing customers with a secure and convenient way to manage their finances locally. It also led the way in financial education by hosting the country’s first Bond Market Seminar, bringing industry experts together to explore market opportunities.
Recognizing the importance of professional development, the bank launched Ghana’s first Banking Academy Programme, equipping staff with the skills to excel in the dynamic banking environment. Also in response to the global pandemic, Access Bank in Ghana successfully hosted the country’s first fully virtual AGM, ensuring continued transparency and shareholder engagement.
The bank also enhanced customer service by introducing the first Video Contact Centre in the country, offering personalized and efficient service.
Access Bank Ghana has also been recognized for its commitment to environmental, social, and governance (ESG) practices, receiving awards such as Euromoney’s 2024 Award for Excellence as Ghana’s Best Bank in ESG. The bank was also recognised as the SME Friendly Bank of the Year at the Brandcom Awards, Nigeria’s most prestigious recognition platform in Integrated Marketing Communications.
The bank’s sustainability initiatives include the Green Ghana Day tree planting, the Womenpreneur Pitchaton, and the Waste Is Useful campaign.
Additionally, the bank has introduced projects like “A Sandal More for a Better Tomorrow,” which produces eco-friendly footwear for underprivileged children and has implemented solar energy at ATMs to reduce its carbon footprint.
