The convener of WIMCA, Mr. Joshua Ajayi has said that the will to win, the desire to succeed and the urge to reach one’s full potential are the keys that will unlock the doors to personal excellence.

Ajayi made this remark to all the marketing communication experts present at the just concluded WIMCA 10th anniversary during his welcome address. The event was held recently at Landmark Event Centre VI, Lagos.

Commenting on the event’s theme, he said, “I am excited that at this year’s landmark conference, we will be unlocking the potential within ourselves that will position us to achieve that extra leap in line with the theme of today’s conference ‘On Becoming More’.  I strongly believe that with the quality of resource persons assembled here, we all would be positioned to make giant impacts in our lives.

Speaking on the anniversary celebration, Ajayi said, “Celebrating our anniversary as we clock ten years in the vanguard of relentlessly promoting women’s empowerment feels so good. We’re extremely excited to share this milestone with everyone present and to take this moment to look forward to the future together.

“The journey of WIMCA from the day of conception till today has not been very easy but God has kept us every step of the way. Doing something different — being a disruptor, not following the path of “life as usual” — never is. We had to chart our own path. We kept the project running even during the pandemic — all the while making sure we’re maximizing what’s best for our womenfolks in this industry.

“And we’re so proud of what we have achieved as we stand today, a decade later. We’ve built a reputation as one of the most impactful platforms helping to ignite or propel women towards attaining enviable heights in marketing and management.

“WIMCA has steadily grown to become one of the most viable and glamorous platforms for networking and gaining brand visibility for women and the men who come to support them. And most importantly, we’ve helped thousands of women in the industry gain fuller professional lives by addressing many neglected issues.

“This anniversary is a celebration for all of us because we didn’t do this alone. We’re so thankful to our sponsors, supporters and partners who have always seen the value of our activities and programmes. We couldn’t have achieved much without all your support.”

The conference featured a keynote delivered by Victor Afolabi, an award-winning visionary leader, innovator, and transformational strategist known for his strategic leadership skills and ability to drive transformative impact across diverse industries.

A fireside chat session with Folake Ani-Mumuney, an experienced, well-rounded C Suite Executive; Folake is the immediate past Chairman of the Board of Directors of FBN Insurance Brokers and Vice Chairman of Junior Achievement Nigeria.

The conference which was a full-day event featured three powerful panel sessions and a position paper on ‘The Place of Emotional Intelligence on Becoming More’.
