Francis Afoani Appointed Senior Director, Coca-Cola Uplift – Africa

Consummate marketing communications professional, Francis Afoani has joined The Coca-Cola Company as Senior Director for Coca-Cola Uplift – Africa, a broad initiative including both marketing campaigns and sustainability efforts aimed at driving growth through strategic brand leadership and execution, aligning long-term objectives with market opportunities to maximize share and equity across Africa operating units.

In his new role, Afoani will head the Uplift pillar and shape the future of the company’s brands across the Africa Operating Unit (AOU) as well as lead the Long Range Plans and Annual Business Plan thinking for the Uplift pillar in AOU. Identify and prioritize growth opportunities based on the Business Unit’s (BU) long-term vision & brand’s long-term objectives. Develop brand strategies & plans to maximize equity and share growth.

He has a wealth of transferable skills gained in the Fast Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG) sector. His experience and achievement spans across many categories within FMCG – Laundry, Foods and Oral.

With over 14 years of experience in business leadership, building strategic solutions for corporate organizations around Africa Afoani has flawless execution of these solutions to deliver business objectives and value to all key stakeholders; the consumer, customer and shareholders.

He has provided effective partnerships for general management in major multinational organizations over the years and worked across the African continent, especially in West Africa with a deep understanding of the consumer.

Prior to his recent appointment, he served as the Head of Sales and Marketing in West Africa at IFFCO Group. He also served as Marketing Director at Upfield.

 At Unilever, he served as the Category Manager, Home Care, Accra, where he led a business cross-functional team in the Home Care Category (Unilever Ghana’s biggest) that develops and flawlessly drives strategies that deliver sustainable profitable growth for the business.

He has a Bachelor of Science in Business Computing and Information Systems from the University of Wales and a Master of Business Administration – MBA in Marketing/Marketing Management from the University of Ghana.
