NIPR, NTDA Inaugurate Joint Technical Committee To Promote Tourism At WPRF 2026

As part of efforts to strengthen Nigeria’s global image through tourism, entertainment and strategic public relations, the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR) and the Nigerian Tourism Development Authority (NTDA) have inaugurated a Joint Technical Committee to develop tourism and entertainment packages for delegates attending the World Public Relations Forum (WPRF), scheduled for November 15–21, 2026, in Abuja.
The committee, inaugurated at the NTDA headquarters in Abuja, has been charged with designing world-class tourism experiences that will showcase the Federal Capital Territory and its surrounding attractions to thousands of international visitors expected at the global event.
Speaking at the inauguration, NIPR President and Chairman of Council, Dr Ike Neliaku, expressed confidence in the calibre of professionals appointed to the committee, urging them to be innovative and strategic in creating tourism packages that reflect Nigeria’s rich cultural diversity, hospitality and heritage.
According to him, WPRF Abuja 2026 presents an opportunity that extends beyond hosting a successful international conference, offering Nigeria a unique platform to enhance its global image and position itself as a preferred destination for tourism, investment and international partnerships.
Also speaking, the Director-General of the NTDA, Mr Ola Awakan, said Nigeria is endowed with abundant cultural heritage, tourism assets and hospitality experiences capable of leaving lasting impressions on international visitors.
He reaffirmed the Authority’s commitment to curating world-class tourism experiences that will give delegates memorable experiences throughout their stay in Nigeria.
Both organisations said the committee has been mandated to develop a comprehensive tourism and entertainment programme that will highlight Abuja and its surrounding destinations while promoting Nigeria’s culture, creativity and hospitality.
They noted that the initiative forms part of a broader partnership between the NIPR and the NTDA to leverage tourism, culture and entertainment as strategic tools for strengthening Nigeria’s international reputation.
The committee will also support the Naija Flavour International Tourism (NAFITO) Expo, scheduled to hold in Abuja in November, by creating immersive cultural experiences for participants.
The inauguration marks another milestone in preparations for the World Public Relations Forum 2026, which is expected to attract delegates from more than 126 countries.
The NIPR members of the committee are Council Member and Vice Chairman, National Planning Committee (NPC-WPRF), Haj. Maryam Sanusi, fnipr; Chairman, FCT Local Organising Committee (LOC-WPRF), Nyong Nyong, fnipr; Chair, Civil Society Work Team, NPC-WPRF, Inimfon Etuk, mnipr; and Legal Adviser to the National Planning Committee, Barr. John Aji.
Representing the NTDA on the committee are Director of Marketing and Promotion, Olufemi Akinyele; Director, National Travel Bureau, Celina Okpe; Technical Assistant to the Director-General, Nelson Lucas and Chief Tourism Officer (Press Unit), Efosa Orhue.
