The Advertising Regulatory Council of Nigeria (ARCON) has inaugurated a Special Recognition Awards Committee to oversee the planning, coordination, and successful execution of the forthcoming ARCON Special Recognition and Advertising Standards Panel (ASP) Awards Ceremony.

The awards program is designed to recognise and reward advertisers, agencies, media organisations, and other industry stakeholders that have demonstrated exemplary compliance with advertising regulations and best practices. It will also celebrate public and private sector organisations for their outstanding contributions to responsible marketing communications, while honouring distinguished individuals whose leadership, innovation, and commitment have positively shaped ethical standards and professional excellence within the industry.

The inauguration ceremony, held on Thursday, June 18, 2026, in Lagos, marked the formal commencement of preparations for the awards program, which is expected to bring together industry leaders, policymakers, professionals, corporate organisations, regulators, and other key stakeholders across Nigeria’s marketing communications ecosystem.

Speaking during the inauguration, the Director General of ARCON, Dr. Olalekan Fadolapo, charged members of the committee to uphold the highest standards of integrity, transparency, professionalism, and fairness in the discharge of their responsibilities. According to him, the awards are intended to celebrate individuals and organisations whose outstanding contributions have advanced the growth, development, innovation, compliance culture, and ethical practice of Nigeria’s advertising and marketing communications industry.

“This committee has been entrusted with an important responsibility. The credibility of the awards will depend on a process that is transparent, inclusive, and guided by excellence. We are confident that the calibre of individuals appointed to serve will ensure that the awards remain a respected platform for recognising merit and inspiring higher standards across the industry.

The committee has been mandated to develop the awards framework, establish nomination and assessment procedures, coordinate stakeholder engagement, supervise the selection process, mobilise partnerships and sponsorship opportunities where necessary, and ensure the successful delivery of the awards ceremony.

Members of the committee were carefully selected based on their professional competence, industry experience, integrity, and commitment to advancing excellence within the marketing communications sector.

The Chairman of the Committee, Yinka Adebayo, Group Executive Director, Omnicom Media Group West & Central Africa, expressed appreciation for the confidence reposed in the members and pledged their collective commitment to delivering a credible, inclusive, and memorable awards program.

“We recognise the significance of this assignment and the expectations that accompany it. The committee will work diligently to ensure that every stage of the process reflects fairness, accountability, and excellence. We look forward to delivering an awards program that commands the confidence and respect of stakeholders.”

The Director-General affirmed ARCON’s commitment to promoting excellence, strengthening regulatory compliance, and fostering a culture of professionalism through initiatives that encourage healthy competition, reward outstanding performance, and inspire continuous improvement across the industry.
