CNN, Dangote Renew Decade-Long Media Partnership With New Africa Inc. Series

CNN International Commercial (CNNIC) and Dangote Industries Limited have renewed their long-standing media sponsorship, unveiling a new campaign built around Africa Inc., a half-hour show set to premiere on CNN International on Aug. 29.

The renewal extends a relationship the two organisations have maintained for close to a decade. CNNIC first partnered with Dangote on its Marketplace Africa programming around 2016, then expanded the tie-up in 2018 to make Dangote the first African brand featured on CNN’s Great Big Story series. Announcing the latest phase, CNNIC’s Senior Vice President of Advertising Sales, Cathy Ibal, said the network was “pleased to once again be working with Dangote Industries Limited,” a statement that echoes similar remarks made at the 2018 renewal.

Africa Inc., hosted by Adefemi Akinsanya, will track African companies competing globally across sectors including technology, hospitality, manufacturing and entertainment. Four further episodes are scheduled through 2026 and into 2027, alongside bi-monthly segments and digital content on CNN.com.

The campaign also includes Africa First, a branded content series produced by CNNIC’s in-house studio Create, which marks its 20th anniversary this year. The series, spanning documentary-style films, data-driven articles and social content, will spotlight Dangote’s energy and industrialization activities, and will run on CNN U.S. television and digital platforms, in addition to CNN’s international and Arabic-language broadcast services.

Beyond media placement, Dangote Industries will sponsor three editions of CNN’s newer events franchise, Global Perspectives, over the next 12 months, extending the partnership from broadcast to live events.

Dangote’s Group Chief Branding and Communications Officer, Anthony Chiejina, tied the campaign to the company’s internal rebranding push, saying it “signposts our global brand positioning drive” and supports its Vision 2030 economic blueprint. He described the effort as part of “a new paradigm shift in rebranding” the company’s industrialization journey.

The partnership underscores a broader trend of African conglomerates using recurring, multi-year global media sponsorships rather than one-off campaigns, to shape international perceptions of the continent’s private sector.
