Founder and Chief Executive Officer of QVT Media, Brenda Nwagwu, has been elected the first female President of the Media Independent Practitioners Association of Nigeria (MIPAN).
Nwagwu emerged President at the ongoing 2026 Annual General Meeting of MIPAN, being held at Ogere Resort, Ogun State.
She takes over the mantle of leadership of the association from the outgoing President, Dozie Okafor.
Her election marks a milestone for MIPAN and the Nigerian media industry, as she becomes the first woman to lead the association since its establishment in 1999.
Early comments from industry observers indicate that the association may well be on its way to greater strides as Nwagwu has proven her mettle as the association’s immediate past Vice President, as well as her leadership of QVT Media. She is also the Managing Director of Leeds Production Nigeria, the exclusive media sales representative for Disney Star and StarLife TV across Nigeria and Ghana.
With more than two decades of experience spanning Marketing Communications, Financial Services and Technology, Nwagwu has built a distinguished career working with leading global agencies, including Media Reach OMD and All Seasons Mediacom.
Her combination of financial expertise and strategic media experience has positioned her as a respected industry leader, helping brands ranging from startups to Fortune 500 companies navigate media investment and brand growth.
Nwagwu is also a strong advocate for diversity, equity and inclusion in the workplace and has committed significant effort to mentoring and developing young professionals in the marketing and communications industry.
As an innovator and serial entrepreneur, she promotes the development of local content for domestic and international platforms. She also consults and facilitates training in audience measurement, communications strategy, and media planning and buying in the digital age. She serves as faculty at Alphabet Media Academy and Digify Africa, a Meta initiative.
She is a Fellow of the National Institute of Marketing of Nigeria and served as Communications Consultant to Nigeria’s Open Government Partnership Initiative from 2017 to 2019.
She sits on the boards of several companies, including Leeds Production Nigeria, Shuttabox Nigeria, Adcontinuum and ICAP Technologies Limited. She is the immediate past President of AIESEC Alumni Nigeria.
Beyond her corporate and professional engagements, Nwagwu is involved in community development and serves on the Women Empowerment Project Committee under the Onitsha Leadership & Entrepreneurial Centre, an initiative of the Onitsha Advancement Foundation (ONAF).
Her emergence as MIPAN President is expected to bring her wealth of experience in media, marketing communications, business leadership, and professional development to the association’s leadership.
