The second and final evening of the 2026 Loeries Awards saw Joe Public carting away both Agency of the Year and Independent Agency of the Year titles, the awards that celebrate creative work in advertising and brand communication across Africa and the Middle East.

Also honoured were Heineken Beverages, named Brand of the Year, and Publicis Groupe, which received Regional Agency Group of the Year.

During the event, Reg Lascaris of TBWA\Hunt Lascaris was also inducted into the Loeries Hall of Fame, an honour for people recognised for a lifetime of contribution to the industry.

A results table published with the announcement lists 30 awards for Joe Public, two of them Grands Prix. That is the most any agency has won, ahead of TBWA\Hunt Lascaris on 20, while Accenture Song South Africa and Fortune Promoseven had 12 each. A look at the list revealed 272 awards in total, including four Grands Prix.

Joe Public’s winning entries included Spinning Thing, a radio campaign for Sunlight that won a Grand Prix; This Is African Time, a Gold-winning film for South African Breweries; and work for Nedbank and Chicken Licken.

Other winners on the list include LePub Johannesburg, that won a Grand Prix in the Live Events category for Heineken Beverages’ Bar de Change campaign and Darling Films that won one for direction on African Time, a South African Breweries film.

The result repeats last year’s pattern when the agency also took both titles at the 2025 Loeries. The agency said this win was the sixth time it had reached the top of the awards. Chicken Licken, another Joe Public client, was named Brand of the Year in 2025.

The awards form part of Loeries Creative Week. The first awards evening was held on 8 October with entries coming from agencies across Africa and the Middle East. The Loeries Awards has run for more than four decades.
