The Flour Mills of Nigeria Women Network (FMNWN), recently held a Breast Cancer Awareness Walk across FMN sites nationwide. The walk by the company’s ladies known as “Amazing Amazons,” took place on Monday, October 12, 2026, as part of activities marking Pink October.

The women who gathered at designated points nationwide to embark on the walk, were all dressed in pink, to show unity and support for the global campaign against breast cancer.

The initiative was aimed at raising awareness of breast cancer, encouraging regular breast checks and promoting early detection. It also sought to draw attention to the need for timely medical attention and stronger support for people affected by the disease.

Participants used the walk to send a clear message that breast cancer awareness requires collective action. The event also created an opportunity for employees to discuss the importance of self-examination, screening and seeking medical advice when unusual changes are noticed.

Beyond creating visibility for the campaign, the walk reinforced the need for compassion towards patients and survivors. FMNWN said the initiative highlighted the importance of supporting individuals through diagnosis, treatment and recovery.

The network, launched in 2019 to promote women’s development, inclusion and wellbeing within Flour Mills of Nigeria, has continued to drive initiatives focused on the professional and personal advancement of women across the organisation.

The strong turnout across sites reflected the enthusiasm of members and the growing importance of workplace health campaigns. Organisers said the walk demonstrated that awareness, early action and support can help reduce the impact of breast cancer.

The FMN Women Network reaffirmed its commitment to championing health education and creating a supportive environment for women. The message from the walk was clear and simple: awareness saves lives, early detection matters, and no one should face breast cancer alone.
