Nigeria’s NIPR Named World’s Top Public Relations Association

The Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR) has been ranked the world’s leading public relations association, surpassing counterparts in the United States, United Kingdom, and other countries.
The announcement was made by NIPR President, Dr. Ike Neliaku, during his address at the Nigeria Reputation Summit in Abuja yesterday. He revealed that the recognition came from the Global Alliance for Public Relations and Communication Management, the umbrella body overseeing PR associations worldwide.
Dr. Neliaku explained that NIPR emerged first after a competitive evaluation involving major institutions such as the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA) and the Chartered Institute of Public Relations (CIPR), United Kingdom. He described the ranking as a milestone for Nigeria’s public relations profession and a testament to the Institute’s sustained reforms, professional engagement, and international collaborations.
“This is a proud moment for Nigeria. NIPR has been adjudged the best public relations association in the world,” he said, highlighting that the ranking reflects the Institute’s growing influence, expertise, and contribution to global PR practice.
Linking the recognition to Nigeria’s global ambitions, Dr. Neliaku noted that the Institute also secured the rights to host the 2026 World Public Relations Forum in Abuja. The hosting rights followed a rigorous four-stage bidding process conducted across Bali, Nairobi, Venice, and online platforms. The forum, set for November 2026, is expected to bring together PR leaders and professionals from over 126 countries, making it the largest global gathering of its kind.
He stressed that hosting the forum offers a unique opportunity to enhance Nigeria’s international reputation, strengthen diplomatic goodwill, and project a positive national image. Dr. Neliaku called on the government, private sector, and other stakeholders to provide support, noting that the success of the forum will significantly shape how the world perceives Nigeria.
“This event is more than a gathering of professionals; it is a platform to showcase Nigeria’s leadership in public relations and its capacity to host world-class events,” he said, emphasizing that the country’s reputation will be measured by the planning, execution, and hospitality displayed during the forum.
The recognition and upcoming forum underscore Nigeria’s growing stature in the global PR landscape, positioning NIPR and the country as influential players in shaping professional standards and international communication practices.
