Exclusive: Dr. Oyedeji To Become MD, Starcom Mediavest SA, Heads Publicis Media Africa

Exclusive information reaching Brand Communicator has it that the Managing Director of Media Perspectives, Dr.Tayo Oyedeji has been elevated to the position of Managing Director, Starcom Mediavest, South Africa and Head, Publicis Media Africa.
According to our source, the appointments are billed to take effect from January 2017. The source further revealed that Mr. Biodun Shobanjo, Chairman, Troyka Holdings, the parent company of Media Perspectives where Dr. Oyedeji is still the Managing Director made the announcement during an internal board meeting on Tuesday.
The appointments of Dr. Oyedeji is as a result of his excellent performance in recent times.
In his new roles, Dr. Oyedeji will bring onboard over 18 years of corporate and academic experience spanning media advertising, management consulting and financial services in Africa, Europe and North America in providing strategic leadership in overseeing the day-to-day operations of the two global media brands of Publicis; Starcom Mediavest and Zenith Optimedia across Africa. He will be the first Nigerian to hold such positions.
Prior to his role as Managing Director of Media Perspectives, Dr, Oyedeji was the General Manager/Chief Operating Officer at Credit Direct Limited, one of Nigeria’s top financial services company with annual turnover in excess of N15billion. He was responsible for managing the operations of about 1,500 employees in 50 branches across 24 states in Nigeria.
He was once Director of Business Development at MediaReach OMD where he pioneered the digital media business and was the head of the Etisalat account service team. He also worked in the media department of Ackermann McQueen, a full service agency in Oklahoma City, USA. He has worked for blue-chip clients like MTN, Intel, HP, Visa, Virgin, Etisalat, Guinness, Reckitt Benckiser and GlaxoSmithKline.
Dr. Oyedeji was also an Assistant Professor of Media Management and Economics at the University of Georgia, USA for three years, and is an accomplished media scholar whose research on branding and brand equity management has been published in reputable journals like the American Behavioural Scientists, The International Journal on Media Management, and The Journal of Media Business Studies.
He holds a degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Ilorin. He also holds a Doctorate in Media Management from the University of Missouri-Columbia, USA and an MBA in General Management from Oxford University, UK.
