Nunu Ntshingila-Njeke Quits Meta To Focus On Developmental Projects

Nunu Ntshingila-Njeke has left the services of technology giant, Meta, owners of Facebook where she served as the company’s Regional Director (Africa) to focus developmental projects.
According to announcement, she made on her social media, she will spending more time on development projects, ventures and boards that are close to her heart.
“After almost 7 years at Meta, I have decided to step down.
“Working for Meta in Africa has been a privilege of a lifetime. I have had an incredible time experiencing my continent in a deep and profound way. I have learnt so much about the role of technology to accelerate the trajectory of development, especially for young people, for women, for underserved communities; and for small businesses in Africa.
“I have witnessed first-hand the transformational role our platforms and investment initiatives have had in the process – it really has been a privilege to witness our mission come alive. I have also become acutely aware of the need to promote responsible, less harmful, equitable and inclusive technology for a better Africa.
“I am eternally grateful for the colleagues and partners who have supported me over the last 7 years. In particular, I want to thank Nicola Mendelsohn who found me in 2015 and convinced me to join Meta. At the time a small team of four, in a tiny office, where we opened Facebook’s first office in Africa – a key highlight for sure. Fast forward nearly seven years later and I’m proud of the work done by so many – we now have a 2nd office in Nigeria, millions more users and real-life examples of how technologies are positively impacting those around us here on the continent.
“For now, I look forward to stepping down from formal employment to spend more time on development projects, ventures and boards that are close to my heart.”
Ntshingila-Njeke joined Facebook from Ogilvy and Mather.
She helped drive the creation of Ogilvy’s network in sub-Saharan Africa, which spans some 27 countries. She is a graduate of the University of Swaziland and Morgan State University in the U.S.
She has also held senior positions at Nike and the South African Tourism Board.
