Airtel CEO Urges Shift From Traditional Telco Services To Smarter Business Solutions

The Chief Executive Officer of Airtel Nigeria, Dinesh Balsingh, has called on Nigerian businesses to stop seeing telecommunications as only a means of making calls and accessing the internet, stressing that the industry now plays a vital role in driving business growth, enhancing customer experience and supporting Nigeria’s growing digital economy.
Speaking at a media briefing in Lagos, Balsingh said the telecommunications industry is changing and operators must focus more on how customers experience their services instead of relying only on technical network measurements. He explained that this approach enables Airtel to identify and resolve service issues before they affect customers.
He noted that Nigeria’s growing cities, increasing population and rising demand for internet services are putting more pressure on existing network infrastructure. According to him, telecom companies must continue upgrading their systems to meet these changing needs.
Balsingh said Airtel is expanding its network by deploying more infrastructure in densely populated areas, laying additional fibre optic cables and introducing smaller network facilities in locations where conventional telecom towers may not provide the best coverage.
He added that these investments have become necessary because people now depend on reliable internet connections for business, education, banking, entertainment and everyday communication.
The CEO of Airtel Nigeria also disclosed that the company is strengthening its ability to monitor customer experience as it happens, allowing it to quickly detect and address service challenges affecting users.
He said the future of the telecommunications industry will be driven by the ability to provide dependable digital services rather than simply increasing the number of subscribers. He stressed that continuous investment in modern infrastructure is essential to support Nigeria’s expanding digital economy.
Balsingh also called for closer cooperation between telecom operators, regulators and other stakeholders to encourage innovation and improve access to quality digital services across the country.
He reaffirmed Airtel Nigeria’s commitment to expanding its network and delivering solutions that improve connectivity, support businesses and create more opportunities for Nigerians in an increasingly digital world.
