Chenist Communications has announced the appointment of Segun McMedal as the company’s new Executive Director, Business Development, Operations, and Innovations.
McMedal whose appointment became effective November 1, 2022, is a well-grounded Public Relations practitioner with several years of cognate experience, providing innovative marketing communications solutions to clients across various sectors of the economy.
He is the immediate past Chairman of the Lagos State Chapter of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations; the leading and most populated branch accounting for over 60 per cent of the members of the Institute across the country.
Announcing McMedal’s appointment, Executive Director for Media Communications for the agency, Adebayo Sowemimo had the following to say “We are delighted to welcome McMedal on board this young but very promising company with a clear vision and mission to contribute positively to the marketing communications space and expand the practice in Nigeria.”

Prior to this appointment, he was the Director, Innovation and Business Development at Mediacraft Associates.
Segun McMedal was also the Chief Reputation Strategist at Upticomm Marketing Company Limited. Between March 2010 and July 2012, he served as the Group Head, Client Service, and Business Development, at CMC-Connect BCW, where he managed high-profile client accounts and coordinated media relations activities, amongst other tasks.
He was also the Chief Operating Officer at Ross and Boss, a PR firm, from 2008 to 2010, as well as Managing Editor at Meljum Nigeria Ltd, a Nigerian publishing company, between March 2005 and June 2008.
McMedal holds a Bsc. in Sociology from the University of Ilorin (1997), a Master in Public & International Affairs from the University of Lagos (2019), and a Post-graduate Diploma in Journalism from the Times Journalism Institute (2004).
Public relations practitioner of high repute having worked with leading communications firms, McMedal is listed among the 50 most Influential Marketing Communications Practitioners in Nigeria. He is a member of relevant professional associations including the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR) and the Advertising Practitioners Council of Nigeria (APCON).
