YouTube Reviews Monetization Policy, Announces Zero Payment On AI-Generated Contents From July 15

YouTube, Google-owned video platform has announced that it is implementing significant changes to its monetization policy under the YouTube Partner Program (YPP) effective July 15, 2025.
The platform will now require creators to produce original content featuring real voices to qualify for monetization. This means that videos relying on AI-generated voices/videos, reused content, or low-effort compilations will no longer be eligible for monetization.
This policy update arrives as YouTube faces a flood of Al-generated videos and faceless channels designed to influence the algorithm for quick revenue. By pushing for more authentic content, YouTube aims to improve viewer experience and restore faith in its recommendation engine.
The platform aims to prioritize authenticity and creativity, ensuring that creators who add real value to the community are rewarded. This move also addresses concerns from advertisers and users about the quality and reliability of content on the platform.
However, this is a clarion call for creators who have been relying on AI-generated content or repurposing existing material to take immediate steps to adapt. They should focus on producing unique, creative, and authentic content that showcases your voice and perspective as well as engage with your audience through meaningful commentary, analysis, or storytelling. By doing this, they can continue to thrive on YouTube’s platform and maintain monetization eligibility.
The core eligibility thresholds remain unchanged: at least 1,000 subscribers and either 4,000 valid public watch hours in the past 12 months or 10 million valid Shorts views in the past 90 days. However, YouTube has promised stricter manual and AI-driven reviews to ensure compliance. Channels found flouting these new guidelines will be removed from the Partner Program and can only reapply after addressing violations.
