Accolades pour in from family, friends, and members of Nigeria’s as foremost figure in Nigeria’s marketing industry, Tony Agenmonmen, turn 70 years old today.

Agenmonmen built a career spanning more than three decades at Nigerian Breweries Plc, where he rose through the ranks and developed deep expertise in consumer behaviour, brand management, and strategic marketing. Colleagues recall him as calm, analytical, and inspiring of confidence, with an approach to marketing rooted in understanding people and building trust rather than simply selling products.

Retiring from Nigerian Breweries at 60, he reinvented himself as a marketing strategist and consultant, advising organisations and business leaders across sectors. He is also known for founding the Nigeria Marketing Awards, an annual event that has become a major platform for recognising excellence and innovation in the industry, and for inspiring younger practitioners to raise their standards.

Agenmonmen further distinguished himself as President of the National Institute of Marketing of Nigeria (NIMN), serving two terms over four years. During his tenure, he strengthened the Institute’s profile, championed professional and ethical standards, and promoted continuing education, leaving what is described as a lasting legacy for the profession.
