AIC 4.0: ARCON DG Urges Stakeholders To Embrace Collaboration For A Stronger Advertising Industry

The Director-General of the Advertising Regulatory Council of Nigeria (ARCON), Dr. Olalekan Fadolapo, has stressed that collaboration among key stakeholders will be critical to shaping the future of Nigeria’s advertising industry amid rapid technological advancements.

He said this while giving his welcome address at the Advertising Industry Colloquium 4.0 themed “The Future of Advertising: Role of Platforms, People and Regulation” and held on Thursday, 6th August, 2026 at D’Podium Event Centre, Ikeja. Lagos.

Dr. Fadolapo said, the future of advertising cannot be shaped by one stakeholder. However, it requires collaboration that inspire innovation, stakeholders who drive creativity and ethical practices as well as a regulatory framework that promotes trust, protects consumers and supports sustainable industry growth.

According to him, the Advertising Industry Colloquium remains a vital platform for bringing together thought leaders, regulators, marketing communications professionals, academics and emerging professionals to exchange ideas on the future of advertising and marketing communications in Nigeria.

Speaking on the theme of the 2026 Colloquium, Dr. Fadolapo said the topic reflects both the opportunities and responsibilities that come with the rapid transformation of the advertising landscape.

“As technology reshapes communication and digital platforms continue to influence consumer engagement, the need for responsible innovation, professional excellence and effective regulation has never been more critical,” he said.

He emphasised that meaningful collaboration should inspire fresh thinking, strengthen partnerships, and contribute meaningful to the continued advancement of the advertising profession in Nigeria.

Dr. Fadolapo noted that constructive dialogue and collaboration among stakeholders would help build an advertising ecosystem that is resilient, globally competitive and responsive to the changing needs of society.

He then expressed appreciation to the Chairman of the event, speakers, panelists, sponsors, event partners, members of the planning committee and participants for their commitment to the success of the Colloquium.

In his remarks, Professor Rotimi Olatunji, Chairman, AIC & Journal Committee said “This colloquium provides a unique platform for scholars, practitioners, regulators, and students to jointly chart that future while strengthening the vital Town and Gown relationship that drives knowledge exchange and industry development”

According to the DG/CEO of Voice of Nigeria, Malam Jibrin Baba Ndace, artificial intelligence, digital platform, data analysis, and many technologies are transforming the advertising landscape at an unprecedented pace.

“Amid these rapid changes, people remain the driver of creativity and trust.

When effective regulation provides the guide rail that encourages innovation, protects the consumer, and upholds professional standards, we shape the future of advertising, we must ensure that technology, talent, and regulation work together to foster an industry that is ethical, inclusive, competitive, and responsive to the needs of society.” He added.
