“Together, we can position Nigeria as Africa’s leading hub for responsible advertising, creative excellence and digital innovation,” he said.

Speaking further, the minister stressed that artificial intelligence cannot replace human creativity, ethical judgment, emotional intelligence and cultural understanding, insisting that these qualities remain central to effective storytelling and responsible advertising.

“Artificial intelligence may generate content, but authentic storytelling, cultural understanding, emotional intelligence and professional judgment remain uniquely human,” he said.

He said the Federal Government is implementing reforms aimed at building a competitive digital economy through investments in broadband infrastructure, digital connectivity and policies that promote innovation, attract investment and create jobs.

According to him, Nigeria’s expanding digital ecosystem has opened up unprecedented opportunities for advertisers, digital entrepreneurs and creative professionals, adding that the ongoing national fibre optic expansion programme will further strengthen digital advertising and innovation-driven businesses.

The minister also discussed the importance of predictable and transparent regulation, describing it as the foundation for sustainable industry growth, investor confidence and consumer protection.

Thereafter, he commended ARCON for its efforts to modernize advertising regulation while engaging stakeholders across the industry.

The minister further called for greater investment in education, digital literacy and creative entrepreneurship to equip young Nigerians with the skills required to compete in the global creative economy.

He urged stakeholders to work together in developing ethical frameworks that protect originality, reward creators and encourage responsible innovation, assuring that the Federal Government would continue to support policies that foster technological advancement while safeguarding intellectual property rights.

The minister expressed confidence that with stronger partnerships among government, regulators, academia and industry players, Nigeria can build an advertising industry that reflects the country’s creativity, resilience and aspirations while emerging as Africa’s leading destination for responsible advertising.

While delivering his welcome address, Dr. Olalekan Fadolapo said the Advertising Industry Colloquium remains a vital platform for bringing together thought leaders, regulators, marketing communications professionals, academics and emerging professionals to exchange ideas on the future of advertising and marketing communications in Nigeria.
