Spider-Man: Brand New Day, the latest, big-screen outing for Marvel’s web-slinging hero, has surpassed $2 billion at the worldwide box office, becoming the second-fastest film in history to reach the milestone.

The film, a joint production of Sony Pictures and Marvel Studios, hit the mark after three weekends in theatres, trailing only 2019’s “Avengers: Endgame,” which reached $2 billion in 11 days. It is now the eighth film ever to cross the $2 billion threshold globally.

The movie has grossed $785.8 million in North America and more than $1.2 billion internationally, for a combined worldwide total of $2.022 billion. Its domestic haul ranks as the fourth-highest in North American box office history, behind “Star Wars: The Force Awakens,” “Avengers: Endgame” and the previous Spider-Man instalment, “No Way Home.”

Starring Tom Holland as Peter Parker alongside Zendaya, and directed by Destin Daniel Cretton, “Brand New Day” is Holland’s fourth solo outing as the character. It opened in late July with a record-setting domestic debut of $360 million and a global opening of roughly $932 million, before crossing $1 billion worldwide in just six days, a pace beaten only by “Endgame.”

With its latest milestone, “Brand New Day” has overtaken “No Way Home” to become the highest-grossing Spider-Man film of all time and the top-grossing movie of 2026 so far. It is also the first solo superhero film to reach $2 billion at the box office.

The film continues to hold the number one spot domestically in its third weekend, fending off new releases including “The End of Oak Street” and “PAW Patrol: The Dino Movie.” Industry watchers say it is on pace to challenge the $2.5 billion mark reached only by “Avatar” and “Avengers: Endgame,” as well as to potentially surpass “The Force Awakens” as the highest-grossing film ever in North America.

Reports have put the film’s production budget at around $225 million, though the studios have not officially confirmed the figure.
