Nigeria to Host Global PR Leaders, 10,000-Person Jollof Festival in November

Nigeria is set to host global public relations leaders, policymakers, diplomats and communication professionals in Abuja in November for the 2026 World Public Relations Forum (WPRF).
The week-long event, themed “Responsible Communication – The Voice of the World,” will bring together stakeholders from PR, government, business, academia, technology, security and other sectors to discuss the future of communication.
President and Chairman of Council of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR), Dr Ike Neliaku, disclosed this during a briefing with members of the Diplomatic Corps in Abuja on Monday.
A major outcome of the forum will be the Abuja Declaration on Responsible Communication, which is expected to set an agenda for the global PR profession over the next decade.
The declaration will examine how developments such as artificial intelligence, social media, digital communication and misinformation are reshaping the profession.
The forum will also feature the 37th African Public Relations Association Conference, an African Ministers of Information Roundtable, workshops, masterclasses, networking sessions and expert-led discussions.
Beyond the professional programme, organisers are using the event to promote Nigeria’s culture and hospitality.
One of the major attractions will be the maiden Nigeria Jollof Rice Festival, which is expected to serve about 10,000 people. International delegates will also have access to a seven-hour tailoring pavilion where African outfits will be made for them.
The event is expected to attract representatives of the United Nations, World Bank, UNESCO, Interpol, World Customs Organization and other international institutions.
President Bola Tinubu is expected to serve as chief host, while Zambia’s President Hakainde Hichilema is expected to deliver the presidential keynote address.
The World Public Relations Awards will also take place during the forum, while a Global Alliance publication on responsible communication is expected to be unveiled.
Youth participation will be another focus, with the Global Youth Public Relations Summit scheduled for November 20.
The main activities will take place at the Transcorp Hilton Abuja, with 19 other hotels designated to accommodate delegates.
Neliaku called on diplomatic missions, businesses, international organisations and other stakeholders to participate as delegates, partners, sponsors and exhibitors.
The forum is expected to position Nigeria as a meeting point for global conversations on responsible communication while showcasing the country’s cultural and creative offerings to international visitors.
