New research reports have revealed that Nigerian internet users made more than 93 million visits to sports and betting websites in August 2026, a figure analysts say could push brands to rethink where audiences spend their time online.

According to the data from Semrush, shared in an infographic by Rage, figures showed that five sports and betting platforms drew a combined 93.63 million visits during the month. Sportybet led the group with 48.99 million visits, making it the second most visited website on the list, behind only Google, which recorded 326.42 million.

Sportybet also surpassed YouTube, which had 48.54 million visits. It stayed ahead of Facebook at 35.54 million, ChatGPT at 35.4 million, and the most visited adult website on the list at 34.92 million.

Other betting platforms followed. Bet9ja recorded 14.74 million visits, Livescore 11.81 million, BetKing 9.12 million and 1xbet 8.97 million. Bet9ja stayed ahead of TikTok, which had 12.81 million.

Rage said the numbers show where consumer attention is already concentrated. “Brands grow faster when they become part of existing consumer behaviour,” the firm said. It added that the opportunity for marketers is not betting itself, but understanding where consumers already spend their time online.

The firm said the scale of traffic suggests millions of users spend significant time on sports and betting content, making such platforms major online destinations in Nigeria.

The figures count visits, not individual users or money spent, and Semrush traffic numbers are estimates.

Separate data for July 2026 from analytics firm Statisense points in the same direction. It placed Google first in Nigeria with 318.45 million visits, followed by YouTube with 46.42 million. It ranked Sportybet fourth, with 36.28 million visits.
