Nigerian Breweries Plc has appointed Nkechi Runsewe as its new Human Resources Director, effective August 1, 2026, the company announced in a statement issued Friday.

Runsewe joins Nigerian Breweries from its parent company, HEINEKEN, where she most recently served as Global Head of Talent Management. She succeeds Grace Omo-Lamai, who retires from Nigerian Breweries today, July 28, 2026, after close to a decade in the role.

In her new position, Runsewe is expected to be responsible for shaping the company’s organisational design, leadership development, workforce capability building and performance systems, in support of the company’s EverGreen 2030 strategy.

Nigerian Breweries Managing Director Thibaut Boidin said Runsewe’s appointment comes at a pivotal moment for the business, citing her track record in talent management and building high-performance cultures across different markets and geographies.

Runsewe has been with HEINEKEN since September 2021, where she also served as Regional Talent Lead for the Africa, Middle East and Eastern Europe region. Before HEINEKEN, she held senior roles at Etisalat, M-Net Africa and Diageo, giving her cross-industry experience spanning telecommunications, media, financial services and consumer goods.

Commenting on her new role, Runsewe said the appointment presents an opportunity to build on Nigerian Breweries’ legacy while strengthening leadership capabilities and the company’s talent pipeline going forward.

The company also used the announcement to acknowledge Omo-Lamai’s outgoing tenure. Under her leadership, Nigerian Breweries earned a first-time Great Place To Work Silver recognition in 2021 and secured Top Employer Certification in both Nigeria and Africa in 2026, alongside honours from several industry bodies including the Chartered Institute of Personnel Management of Nigeria and the Nigeria Employers Consultative Association.

The handover reflects a broader leadership transition at Nigerian Breweries as the company continues to execute its EverGreen 2030 strategy, which centres on volume growth, cost discipline and consistent performance across its operations.
