In experiential marketing, the difference between a brand that is seen and one that is remembered often lies in the experience it creates. For Maxxconnection Limited, this idea has shaped 13 years of helping brands connect with consumers through creativity, innovation, and strategic execution.

What began as a vision to create meaningful connections between brands and consumers has grown into an agency that believes there is always more to offer. Chief Executive Officer Owolabi Mustapha says the company’s growth has been guided by its commitment to trust, speed, creativity, and going the extra mile.

In a conversation with Brand Communicator, Mustapha reflected on the values that have sustained the agency, the people behind its work and its plans to explore new opportunities as the marketing industry evolves.

Going Beyond the Brief

For Maxxconnection, delivering on a client’s brief is only the beginning. The agency seeks opportunities to develop ideas that go beyond expectations to deliver greater value.

“Speed for us is very critical at this age and time when technology is playing a very major role. Creativity is also very pivotal to us as a business,” Mustapha said.

He explained that the agency has shifted from simply responding to briefs to proactively developing ideas and solutions that support clients’ business goals. This approach requires the team to understand what a brand wants to achieve and consider how a campaign can translate into meaningful consumer engagement.

Technology and field-tracking tools have also become important to the agency’s operations, helping it monitor activities across locations and improve execution and accountability.

The agency works across brands such as Coca-Cola, Predator, AB InBev, Reckitt, Betking, UAC and Parallex Bank. Campaigns and activations handled in the past include Share a Coke, Predator’s Rule Your Stage, BetKing Media Parley, Dettol own the swat campaign and the Budweiser FIFA World Cup 2026 Watch Party activation.

For Mustapha, the value of these experiences goes beyond attracting attention. The aim is to create interactions that audiences remember and that help brands achieve their objectives.

“For us, a campaign is truly memorable when it creates a connection with people and delivers value for the brand,” he noted.

This focus on connection is central to the agency’s approach to experiential marketing, where understanding consumers is just as important as developing creative concepts. It also reflects the need for agencies to keep adapting as audiences become more selective about the brands they engage with.

The Team & Its Workplace culture

Maxxconnection’s approach also depends on a workplace culture that encourages employees to contribute ideas and take ownership of their work, regardless of rank.

“From inception, we groom our people to have a very unique mindset because we don’t want to be a one-sided agency. We want to be an all-rounded agency,” Mustapha said.

Mustapha explains that employees are encouraged to think independently, generate ideas, and take responsibility for their contributions. This philosophy is captured in the term Maxxterminds, which represents the shared identity of team members and the belief that innovation can come from anyone.

“Everyone here has the potential to be a leader,” he said, describing a culture where employees are encouraged to make decisions and contribute to the agency’s direction.

However, building such a culture involves more than giving people room to express themselves. Mustapha said the company also recognises employees’ achievements and encourages them to maintain a healthy balance between work and personal life.

Chief Operating Officer Kunle Olukoju shares this emphasis on the team. He highlighted the agency’s approach to identifying talent and creating an environment where employees with different backgrounds can work towards a common goal.

For the agency, this combination of individual initiative and shared responsibility helps create a team capable of responding to demanding briefs and changing client needs. It also places responsibility on the company to keep developing its people as its services and ambitions grow.

Growing Beyond Experiential Marketing

As technology and data increasingly shape marketing, Maxxconnection is exploring opportunities beyond its existing services.

“As a business that believes Tomorrow is Here, we have been investing in areas like innovation, data, and technology for years because these will be relevant in our industry and beyond,” Mustapha said.

He disclosed that the company plans to establish additional businesses focused on distinct opportunities, including data. These ventures, he explained, would operate independently, each with its own area of focus.

The plans reflect the growing role of technology and data in helping businesses understand consumers, assess performance, and make informed decisions. For Maxxconnection, developing these capabilities could strengthen its existing operations while opening up new areas of growth.

The agency has also continued to attract new business. Mustapha disclosed that it had secured five major client accounts within the preceding six months: Airtel, One Utility bank, Parallex, Betking, and UAC.

He attributed these wins to the team’s expertise, creativity, and collaborative approach.

“Our ability to consistently win new high-profile clients is a testament to the expertise, creativity, and collaborative spirit of our talented workforce,” he said.

These gains have come amid rising operating costs, changing consumer expectations, and the demands of executing campaigns across multiple locations. Such conditions require agencies to balance creative ambition with operational efficiency while maintaining strong relationships with clients.

For brands, the pressure to stand out also means that familiar campaign formats may not always be enough. Agencies must pay attention to how people interact with brands, identify what audiences respond to, and find fresh ways to make those interactions meaningful. Maxxconnection’s emphasis on creativity, technology, and consumer engagement forms part of its response to these changing demands.

The agency’s response has included using technology to improve campaign delivery and exploring new business opportunities that could support its longer-term ambitions.

 The Next Chapter

Winning new accounts is only part of the challenge. For Maxxconnection, sustaining growth will also depend on its ability to remain relevant as consumer behaviour, technology, and client expectations continue to change.

The agency plans to build on its existing capabilities by combining creative thinking, data, and effective execution to develop brand experiences that deliver stronger results.

“We will continue to combine creativity, data, and effective execution to help brands connect meaningfully with people and achieve stronger business results,” Mustapha said.

Thirteen years into its journey, Maxxconnection’s story is more than the campaigns it has executed or the clients it has attracted. It is also about a philosophy built around trust, shared ownership, and the belief that there is always an opportunity to do more.

For the Maxxter storytellers, the task ahead is to keep challenging convention, developing new ideas, and finding better ways to connect brands with people. As the agency enters its next chapter, its ambition remains clear: to create experiences that deliver that extra value.
