Africa’s apex soccer regulatory body, The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has opened an invitation to tender (ITT) for the Host Broadcast and TV Services across selected events in 2023, 2024, and 2025 including its flagship events, the TotalEnergies African Cup of Nations Cote d’Ivoire 2023 and CAF Interclub Competitions.

The tender process will allow CAF to select the companies that are best placed to achieve CAF’s objectives of providing world-class coverage of the tournament and offering fans in Africa and internationally a high-quality viewing experience across a range of fields including Host Broadcast Production, Satellite distribution and Graphics.

This process is also expected to elevate the quality of support and sponsorship of all CAF competitions.

CAF General Secretary, Véron Mosengo-Omba said: “CAF understands the importance of partnering with world-class suppliers to achieve our goals. TV is very important in the strategic goals of CAF and the TotalEnergies African Cup of Nations in Cote d’Ivoire will give us an opportunity together with the new partners to deliver what we all believe will be the best AFCON in living memory.”

Interested parties may place bids on all the services included, or just specific services areas of expertise.

The events included in the tender are:

o TotalEnergies CAF Africa Cup of Nations Cote d’Ivoire 2023

o TotalEnergies CAF Confederation Cup 2023/24

o TotalEnergies CAF Super Cup 2023

o TotalEnergies CAF Women’s Champions League 2024

Media companies or organisations wishing to participate in the tender processes must send their submissions to CAF on or before Thursday, 25 May 2023.

In a related development, CAF has received four expressions of interest from six possible host nations for the flagship 2027 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) men’s continental national teams tournament.

The member associations of Algeria, Botswana, and Egypt have made individual expressions of interest in hosting the event, while Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda have joined to launch a joint bid.

Moving forward, the bidders will have until May 23 to submit their official bids, with inspection visits scheduled between June 1 and July 15.

No date has been set by CAF to announce the host or hosts of the 24-team event yet.

CAF has equally re-opened the bidding process for the hosting rights of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.

The decision was made a week after stripping Guinea of the right to host the 2025 AFCON after the country formally stated that it was not ready to host the competition.

Guinea’s inability to host the competition was due to its infrastructural facilities not being ready enough to host the 24-team tournament.
